Mental Health Peer Support Advice and Guidance

"It feels amazing to finally give a home to something I just love doing. I have spent years coming face to face with my challenges and getting an understanding of myself. Safe Space with Lay is here to give the support I always needed.

As a child I went through abuse and as an adult that continued. My only safe place for 6 years was an hour a week in a room with my Councillor where I could just be me and not need protection from what I had been through.

3 years ago I became a member of cj's and It very quickly became my safe place.
I was overcoming domestic abuse and quickly realised I wasn't alone in that journey. At the beginning of lockdown Courtney asked me to join the beautiful team that is cj's.

I slowly realised I had a voice and met an amazing woman who works for St Giles trust and she changed my life. It showed me how my lived experience could help others, and they trained me to become a peer in advice and guidance.

Your safe place with lay is somewhere I want any woman from any background with any problem to be able to walk into and have there own safe place to talk and to share. To not feel judged and offer advice guidance. To find solutions to whatever it is you are going through.

We all deserve a safe place."
